vegan, refined sugar free, caffeine free

Receive some love in a mug with this beautifully pink, rose flavoured hot drink that’s calming and soothing. The earthy and naturally sweet beetroot provides a wealth of beneficial properties - it is a powerhouse of nutrients. As a powder it contains a higher concentration of nutrients than fresh beetroot does. Supportive of gut and heart health, detoxing, inflammation and the menstrual phase - it provides a rich source of glutamine, iron, vitamin B9, antioxidants and more! The pinch of spices adds a warming note.

Makes: 1 small mug/250ml
Prep time: 2 minutes Cook time: 5 minutes
Utensils needed: blender (optional), small saucepan

  • 250ml unsweetened oat milk (or dairy-free milk of your choice)

1 tsp beetroot powder, plus extra to garnish

    Pinch of ground ginger

    Pinch of ground cardamom, optional

    1/2 tsp rose water

1 tsp maple syrup, to sweeten, optional

    Garnish (optional)

    Rose petals

    Beetroot powder

    1. Place all of the ingredients in a blender (except the maple syrup) and blend on high until combined and frothy.

    2. Pour into a small saucepan and warm up for about 5 minutes over a gentle heat.

    3. Remove from the heat and stir in the optional maple syrup to sweeten.

    4. Strain the liquid to avoid a powdery mixture at the bottom of your mug. Then pour into your mug.

    5. If you wish, decorate with rose petals and dust with extra beetroot powder.

    • It is possible to replace the beetroot powder with a shot of beetroot juice.

    • If you don’t have a blender and are not bothered about frothy milk, just skip this step and combine all of the ingredients in the saucepan. Use a whisk to remove any powdery lumps.

    • To make 2 servings, double all of the ingredients except the rose water and maple syrup. Taste before serving and add only a little extra at a time. Be careful not to add too much rose water because it is very potent!

  • This depends on your milk of choice e.g. gluten if you use oat milk that is not certified gluten free or nuts if you use a nut-based milk.
